The power of self belief!  Have you ever heard this statement? 

I certainly have and depending on my mood and what is going in my life at the time i.e.; challenges, hurdles, achievements and milestones, I have swayed between being a believer and a non-believer.  And I can tell you; the times that I have been a “non-believer” have done nothing to help me achieve my goals!

But it is amazing how my own children, are often the wakeup call I need.  They help me realise the possibilities that lay ahead, if only we could block out the negativity from our minds.   You see, children don’t have the preconceived notions we adults do.  Children are not yet equipped with all the negative self talk.  Often they are told a fact, and they believe it.  In their minds it is going to happen, no matter how far-fetched the notion. 

Take Christmas for example.  We couldn’t possibility let our children down, could we?  It is already upon us and because our children believe that Santa is well and truly on his way, we parents will madly scurry around to ensure everything is in place to make it happen.  No matter how tight our budget, or how time-poor we are, we will always manage to ensure Santa has produced some fine gifts, well and truly before the 24th December deadline! 

…………….however, any other time of the year, we may find an excuse not to take that holiday, not to throw a birthday party, not to complete that course we have so wanted to do (and talked about) for five years or not to go after that dream job.  All because we don’t have the time, the money or the motivation! 

But cut to Christmas morning; take a good look around to see what you have achieved!  Isn’t it amazing what we can do when pushed? or when we have an incentive?  I know there is nothing better than waking up Christmas morning to see the smiles and excitement of my children’s faces.  

So, how about putting a smile on your face?  How about being excited about your life? This year, set some goals to go after that career you have always wanted.  There are tools in place and qualified professionals ready to help you.  You just need to start the process.
